Lolo Jones was born on August five, 1982. In her youth, Lori "Lolo" Jones had a series of obstacles to beat.Jones attended eight colleges in eight years whereas her single mother, Lori, typically held down 2 jobs to support her family of six. Lolo's father spent most of her childhood either within the Air Force or state jail. In third grade, the Jones family settled within the basement of a Des Moines Salvation Army church. throughout the summer when day camps were offered at the church, Lolo would rouse early to avoid being teased by different children if they discerned she was living within the basement.

At Roosevelt, she excelled within the classroom, keeping her grades up and taking part in the cello within the faculty orchestra. Lolo, of course, additionally excelled on the track. She was named Gatorade Midwest Athlete of the Year and set a record at the Iowa state track meet with a mark of thirteen.40 seconds for the 100-meter hurdles.
